17. Quick reference: numbers and limits of this version

Version 1.0Software: FuelTech Vision 3.00.54Firmware: 00.03.00.54Products: FT700, FT700 Plus, FT470, VisionFT2026-10-14

They apply to FuelTech Vision 3.00.54 and VCU firmware 00.03.00.54. They were read from the software, not measured on a bench.

#17.1 Targets, sizes and screens

Target (name on screen)Dashboard sizeScreensNote
VCU (FT700)1074 x 600 px, fixed1 to 41024 x 600 px display: the horizontal axis is compressed by 0.9534.
VCU (FT700 Plus)1920 x 720 px, fixed1 to 4No compression.
Desktop1920 x 1080 px, free1 to 4Width from 320 to 7680 px, height from 240 to 4320 px.
Mobile480 x 800 px, free1 to 4Phone, in portrait.
Tablet1280 x 800 px, free1 to 4Landscape.
Media Device1920 x 1080 px, free1 to 4Reserved: no device draws it in version 3.00.54.
Video Overlay1920 x 1080 px, free1PC only. A single solid-color background.

#17.2 Screens and screen change

ItemValueWhat to do or check
Number of screens1 to 4Decreasing it deletes the last screens without confirmation.
Screen indexstarts at 00 is Screen 1. Outside the range, it is ignored without warning.
Physical button (FT700 and Plus)from 0 to 1 advances 1 screen, in a cycleThe dashboard reads the button every 100 ms: check on a bench the shortest press that changes the screen.

#17.3 GIF

ItemRule
Position modet = (value - start) / (end - start), from 0 to 1. Shows the frame closest to t x (N - 1), counted from the first one. N comes from Loaded (N frames); the screen counts from 1.
2-frame light, with Initial value 90 and Final value 100Up to 94.99, the 1st frame (off); from 95, the 2nd (on): it lights at the midpoint. To light at X, set Initial value to X minus d and Final value to X plus d, with d greater than the measurement's resolution.
Speed modeMultiplier from 0 to 10, in steps of 0.1. Frame time = native delay / multiplier, floor of 5 ms.
Frames keptMaximum of 300 frames. The FT700 and the Plus keep 24 frames per second; the other devices, 60. Example: 25 frames at 40 ms become 24 on the FT700 and the Plus and 25 on the others. A delay of 0 counts as 100 ms.

#17.4 Pointers

FieldDefaultRange
Value 1, Value 20 and 100The screen accepts -1000000 to 1000000.
Angle 1, Angle 2-90 and 90 degrees-3600 to 3600 degrees.
Scale by valuevalues 0 and 100; factors 1 and 1Factor from 0.01 to 100.
Pivot X, Pivot Y0.5 and 0.5From 0 to 1.

angle = Angle 1 + (value - Value 1) / (Value 2 - Value 1) x (Angle 2 - Angle 1). There is no end stop: above Value 2, the pointer keeps rotating. When you choose the Data source, the pointer does not receive a default range: enter Value 1 and Value 2.

#17.5 Conditional visibility and alert

ModeTurns on whenTurns off when
Above the upper limitvalue greater than Turn on abovevalue less than Switch off below (hysteresis)
Below the lower limitvalue less than Turn on undervalue greater than Switch off above (hysteresis)
Within the range (intra)value between the low and the high, inclusivevalue outside the range
Out-of-range (extra)value less than the low or greater than the highvalue within the range

In the Above and Below modes, between the two limits the gauge keeps its state. It starts visible; with no measurement in Data, it stays visible. In the Above the upper limit mode, fill in both fields: with Switch off below (hysteresis) at 0, the light starts on and never turns off for a measurement that does not go negative. With no data, every measurement is 0 and the O2 sensor is 1.

Which gauge and style draws each Alert mode is in the table in section 9.4. The Shift lights up with RPM equal to or greater than High alert, in any mode, including Deactivated.

#17.6 Writing and importing

Command or itemWhat it does or limits
Write and Overwrite current map (PC)Overwrite the active map, with the name of the map on the screen. They ask for confirmation (Override VCU?).
Save map and activate new map (PC)New file on the VCU, and activates it. Asks for confirmation.
Save map and not activate (PC)New file; the active one does not change. Does not ask for confirmation.
Segmented overwrite (PC)Rewrites the active one, keeps the name; disappears with the FT470. Asks for confirmation.
Write VCU (phone, tablet)Overwrites without confirmation; may rename and replace the active map.
Import dashboard from .ftds fileIgnores the file's width and height: a 1074 x 600 px dashboard on a 1920 x 720 px target occupies 55.9% of the width and 83.3% of the height, in the upper left corner.
ImagesBackground: reduced to the target, never enlarged, JPEG 85. Image: up to 1920 px on the longest side; above that, it reduces. Pointer PNG: up to 512 px. GIF and SVG: no byte limit.
Map and uploadRefuses an .ftmap above 128 MiB. Sends the whole map, compressed, with the images, in sections of 60,000 bytes (FT470: about 5 KB; the dashboard images go along, unless you turn off Send images of the dashboard along with the map).

None of these limits shows a warning on the screen. The app does not send with Password-protected map, Custom Functions memory exceeded or Incompatible VCU version (VCU firmware below 00.02.24.56 and, on the PC only, a version different from the app's). With Tables above the ECU limit, it asks Yes or No: when in doubt, No (section 13.1). With the dashboard open, the unit reloads it by itself; with another screen open, it returns to the menu: open the dashboard from it.

#17.7 What this version does not have

Version 3.00.54 does not have: a button to restore a target's factory dashboard; copying, moving or reordering a whole screen (export and import); automatic rescaling when importing or pasting between targets; select all; a data simulator in the editor; a warning of a disconnected sensor or a lost connection (the gauge keeps the last value; only the RPM goes back to 0); an end stop on the pointers; a field to change a gauge's rate; target choice in the FT700 and Plus editor (it edits only the unit's target).

Maximum dashboard size, gauges and GIFs per screen, upload time and the maximum size the unit accepts have no figure: only the bench answers. The software does not limit gauges per screen or bytes per image or GIF.
